milk - 300 ml (for custard cream)
sugar - 50 g (for custard cream)
cornstarch (or flour) - 30 g (for custard cream)
egg yolks - 3 (for custard cream)
Instructions
Prepare Puff Pastry: Unroll the rectangular puff pastry and divide it horizontally into two parts and vertically into three parts to obtain 6 squares.
Shape Pastry Squares: Fold the edges of each square inward and prick the base with a fork. Brush the edges with beaten egg or milk.
Bake Pastry: Bake the puff pastry squares in a preheated ventilated oven at 200°C (392°F) for about 8 minutes until golden.
Make Custard Cream: In a bowl, whisk together egg yolks and sugar, then add cornstarch. Gradually add milk while whisking. Cook over low heat for about 10 minutes, stirring continuously until the custard thickens.
Cool Custard and Prepare Strawberries: Remove custard from heat and let it cool while slicing the strawberries.
Assemble: Spread the custard cream over the baked puff pastry squares and top with sliced strawberries.
