Ingredients

  1. extra-large shrimp (26/30 count) - 1 pound (frozen, unpeeled, and untreated)
  2. garlic salt - 1/4 teaspoon
  3. cornstarch - 1 1/2 teaspoons
  4. garlic - 3 to 5 cloves
  5. cooking oil - about 1 tablespoon
  6. dry seasoning - to taste (specific blend not detailed, adjust to taste)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Shrimp: Use scissors to cut off all the legs of the shrimp and optionally cut the top of the tail at an angle for a nicer shape. Devein the shrimp using a toothpick to pull out the vein from the middle back section.
  2. Marinate the Shrimp: In a bowl, mix the shrimp with 1/4 teaspoon of garlic salt and 1 1/2 teaspoons of cornstarch until well coated.
  3. Prepare the Garlic: Peel and roughly mince 3 to 5 cloves of garlic.
  4. Pan-fry the Shrimp: Heat a flat pan on high and evenly coat the bottom with cooking oil. Add the shrimp one at a time and pan-fry on low to medium heat for about 2 minutes on each side until they turn reddish orange.
  5. Cook Garlic and Season: In the same pan, add the minced garlic and cook on low until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Add the shrimp back into the pan, mix with the garlic, then sprinkle in the dry seasoning while flipping the shrimp until well coated. Turn off the heat.
  6. Serve: Plate the shrimp and top with the crispy bits of garlic.
