Ingredients

  1. potatoes - 500 g
  2. sunflower oil - 1 l (for frying)
  3. cleaned calamari - 500 g
  4. cornflour - 2 tablespoons
  5. water - 100 g
  6. breadcrumbs - 80 g
  7. all-purpose flour - 100 g
  8. salt - to taste
  9. Hellmann's vegan mayo - to taste (for serving)
  10. lemon slices - to taste (for serving)
  11. chopped parsley - to taste (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the potatoes: Clean and cut the potatoes into sticks and fry in a deep fryer with sunflower oil.
  2. Prepare the calamari: Mix cornflour with water and a little salt to create an egg-like mixture for breading. Salt the calamari and then coat first in flour, dip in the cornflour mixture, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.
  3. Fry the calamari: Fry the breaded calamari in sunflower oil at a high temperature for 1 to 2 minutes until they get color. Do not overcrowd the pan.
  4. Serve: Serve the fried calamari on top of the French fries with vegan mayo, lemon slices, and chopped parsley on the side.
