Ingredients

  1. lamb shanks - 2
  2. onions - 4 medium (sliced, half a centimeter thick)
  3. garlic - 8 cloves (use as much as you want)
  4. black pepper - 1/2 tablespoon (coarsely ground)
  5. water - 1 liter
  6. extra virgin olive oil - 1/2 dl
  7. bay leaves - 2

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Lamb Shanks: Brown the lamb shanks well in a pot with olive oil.
  2. Add Ingredients: Add onions, garlic, black pepper, bay leaves, and water into the pot. Bring the mixture to a boil and then cover with a lid.
  3. Oven Cooking: Place the pot in an oven preheated to 185°C (with fan) and cook for 2 hours.
  4. Serve: Arrange the lamb shanks on a plate with mashed potatoes and soft onions. Pour some of the cooking juice over the lamb before serving.
