Ingredients

  1. olive oil - 1 tbsp (for cooking)
  2. beef (or lamb) mince - 600 g (can use any mints you like)
  3. red onion - 1 (chopped)
  4. tomatoes - 2 (chopped)
  5. garlic - 2 cloves (minced)
  6. smoked paprika - 1 tsp (for seasoning)
  7. ground coriander - 1 tsp (for seasoning)
  8. ground cumin - 1 tsp (for seasoning)
  9. garlic powder - 1 tsp (for seasoning)
  10. garam masala - 1 tsp (for seasoning)
  11. dried chilli flakes - pinch (to taste)
  12. frozen peas - 1 cup (to add at the end)
  13. water - ½ cup (125ml) (for simmering)
  14. steamed rice - watch the video to see (to serve)
  15. chopped coriander leaves - watch the video to see (to garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat Oil: Heat oil in a large saucepan on high heat.
  2. Cook Beef: Add beef, cook without stirring for 2 minutes.
  3. Add Onion: Add onion, stir to combine and start to break up the mince with the back of a wooden spoon. Cook until mince is well browned.
  4. Add Tomatoes and Garlic: Add tomatoes and garlic, cook for 2 minutes.
  5. Stir in Spices: Stir in spices, reduce heat to medium, cover and cook for 3-4 minutes.
  6. Add Peas and Water: Stir in peas and water, cover, then cook for a further 2 minutes.
  7. Serve: Serve mince on a bed of steamed rice, garnished with coriander.
