Ingredients

  1. fish pieces - 500 grams
  2. turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  3. chilli powder - 2 teaspoons
  4. lime juice - 1 teaspoon
  5. salt - watch the video to see (As per taste)
  6. oil - watch the video to see (as required for frying and cooking)
  7. onions - 2
  8. tomatoes - 2
  9. mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
  10. cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
  11. red chillies - 5
  12. ginger - 1 piece (chopped)
  13. garlic - 10 (cloves)
  14. curry leaves - 1 spring
  15. coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  16. tamarind juice - 1 cup
  17. coriander leaves - 1 bunch

Instructions

  1. Marinate and Fry Fish: Marinate fish pieces with turmeric powder, chilli powder, lime juice, and salt. Fry in hot oil on both sides and set aside.
  2. Prepare Onion Tomato Paste: In the same oil, sauté onions and tomatoes with salt. Blend into a fine paste.
  3. Cook Spices: Heat oil, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, red chillies, chopped ginger, garlic, and curry leaves. Fry till they splutter.
  4. Combine and Cook: Add onion-tomato paste, chilli powder, coriander powder, and tamarind juice. Cook by adding water until oil oozes out.
  5. Finalize Curry: Add fried fish pieces, cook briefly. Finish with coriander leaves, cover and cook for 2 minutes. Turn off the flame.
