Ingredients

  1. frozen shrimp - 600g
  2. spaghetti - 300g
  3. vegetable cube (Knorr) - 1
  4. water - 900g
  5. olive oil - 6 tablespoons
  6. ouzo - 20g
  7. onion - 1
  8. garlic clove - 1
  9. granulated sugar - a pinch (a pinch)
  10. ripe tomatoes - 2
  11. tomato paste - 1/2 tablespoon
  12. bukovo - a pinch (a pinch)
  13. spring onion (green part, optionally) - 1
  14. basil leaves - 4 to 5
  15. salt - to taste
  16. pepper - to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare shrimp broth: Clean shrimp, keeping heads and shells. In a pot, combine water, shrimp heads and shells, and a vegetable cube. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes.
  2. Cook shrimp: Cut shrimp in half, season with olive oil, salt, and pepper, then sauté in a hot pan until colored on both sides. Deglaze with ouzo and set aside.
  3. Make tomato sauce: In the same pan, add olive oil, chopped onion, and garlic. Sauté, then add sugar, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, and a pinch of bukovo. Cook until tomatoes are soft.
  4. Combine and cook pasta: Strain shrimp broth into the tomato sauce. Season with salt and pepper. Add spaghetti and cook according to package instructions.
  5. Finish the dish: Add cooked shrimp to the sauce, followed by chopped basil and spring onion. Drizzle with olive oil, mix well, and serve garnished with fresh basil leaves, olive oil, and freshly ground pepper.
