Ingredients

  1. green onion - 4 pieces (white parts only, diced)
  2. sweet peppers - 2 oz (diced)
  3. garlic - 2 cloves (peeled, smashed, and minced)
  4. tofu - 1 block (drained, rinsed, and cut into 1 inch cubes)
  5. salt - 1 tsp (for boiling water)
  6. cornstarch - 5-6 tbsp (for coating)
  7. egg - 1 (beaten, use half)
  8. corn oil - 16 fl oz (for frying)
  9. garlic salt - 1 tbsp
  10. white pepper - 1/4 tsp
  11. dried chilis - as needed (for stir-frying)

Instructions

  1. Prep Vegetables: Dice the white parts of green onions and sweet peppers.
  2. Prepare Tofu: Drain, rinse, and cut the tofu into 1 inch cubes.
  3. Boil Tofu: Boil tofu in salted water for about 5 minutes, then drain.
  4. Dry and Coat Tofu: Dry tofu with paper towels, mix with half a beaten egg, then coat evenly with cornstarch.
  5. Fry Tofu: Fry tofu in hot oil until golden brown, about 5-6 minutes at 360°-380°F.
  6. Stir-fry Vegetables: Stir-fry dried chilis and garlic, then remove chilis and add the rest of the vegetables.
  7. Combine and Serve: Add fried tofu to the stir-fried vegetables, mix well, and serve.
