  7. egg - 1 medium (for burger mixture)
  8. grated cheese - 30 g (for burger mixture)
  9. parsley - 5 g (finely chopped for burger mixture)
  10. freshly ground pepper - to taste (for burger mixture)
  11. loaf of bread - 1 loaf (cut into thirds and hollowed for thrakopsomo buns)
  12. potatoes - 500 g (cut into strips for fries)
  13. sunflower oil - 1 L (for frying potatoes)
  14. Hellmann's burger sauce - 6 tablespoons (for topping)
  15. tomato slices - 6 slices (for topping)
  16. strained yogurt - 3 tablespoons (for topping)
  17. sweet paprika - 1/2 teaspoon (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the thrakopsomo buns: Cut the loaf of bread into three pieces. Hollow out the center to create a pouch. Grill the bread pieces over charcoal or in a frying pan until they develop a nice brown color.
  2. Make the burger mixture: In a bowl, combine grated onion, milk, olive oil, salt, egg, grated cheese, finely chopped parsley, freshly ground pepper, bread crumbs, and minced beef. Mix thoroughly by hand until well combined. Refrigerate the mixture for 3-4 hours if possible.
  3. Form and cook the burgers: Shape the mixture into burger patties. Heat olive oil in a grill pan over medium heat. Cook the burgers on both sides until fully cooked through, ensuring they are browned outside but not undercooked inside.
  4. Prepare the fries: Cut potatoes into strips. Heat sunflower oil in a frying pan over high heat and fry the potatoes until golden and crispy. Drain excess oil.
  5. Assemble the thrakopsomo burger: Spread Hellmann's burger sauce inside the grilled bread buns. Add one or two cooked burger patties. Insert fried potato strips, tomato slices, a spoonful of strained yogurt, and sprinkle with sweet paprika. Serve immediately.
