  4. potatoes - 3 (washed and chopped into medium squares)

  7. ground cumin - handful (to taste)

  9. water - watch the video to see (enough to cover ingredients and cook soup)

  11. pickled chilies - to taste (optional, for serving)
  12. vinegar - to taste (optional, for serving with chilies)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the tomato mixture: Grind the tomatoes, garlic cloves, and onion together with a handful of ground cumin and a little salt, adding some water to help blend.
  2. Cook the base: Heat oil in a pot. Pour the blended tomato mixture into the hot oil and cook until it loosens and flavors combine.
  3. Prepare potatoes: Wash and chop potatoes into medium squares.
  4. Add potatoes and cilantro: Add the chopped potatoes and cilantro to the pot. Cover and cook for about 10 minutes.
  5. Add rice and water: Add washed rice and some more water to the pot. Add additional salt to taste. Cover and cook for another 10 to 15 minutes until rice and potatoes are tender.
  6. Serve: Serve the soup hot. Optionally, add pickled chilies and a splash of vinegar for a spicy and tangy flavor.
