  4. onion - 1/2 cup (yellow or white, finely chopped)

  6. butter - as needed
  7. vegetable oil - as needed (to increase smoke point of butter)
  8. brown sugar - 2 tablespoons (for caramelizing)
  9. ham - 2 slices (optional)
  10. American cheese - 2 slices (or any preferred cheese)

Instructions
