Instructions

  1. Prepare Potatoes: Peel and wash the potatoes. Cut them into small pieces and place in a pot. Cover with water and add a little salt to prevent them from falling apart. Boil until fully cooked but not mushy. Drain and place in a bowl.
  2. Prepare Meat and Vegetable Mixture: Dice the onion and small pepper into small cubes. Heat olive oil in a frying pan, add the onion and pepper, and sauté until the onion changes color. Add minced meat and cook while shredding until the meat changes color and starts to dry.
  3. Season Meat Mixture: Add paprika, black pepper, and salt to taste. Stir well. Add frozen peas and corn, stir for 2 minutes. Add half a tablespoon of tomato paste and stir for another minute. Turn off heat and set mixture aside.
  4. Mash Potatoes: Add butter, a pinch of black pepper, oregano, and salt to the hot potatoes. Mash thoroughly until smooth with no lumps. Add cream and whole milk, then add mozzarella or cheese mix. Whisk and mix well until creamy and blended.
  5. Assemble Casserole: In a baking tray (Pyrex or any available), spread the meat and vegetable mixture evenly. Then, spread the mashed potato mixture on top, leveling the surface with a fork to create a pattern.
  6. Bake: Preheat oven to a moderate temperature (around 180°C / 350°F). Bake the casserole with heat from above and below until the top is golden and the cheese inside has melted.
  7. Serve: Remove from oven, let cool slightly, then cut into portions and serve warm.
