  6. water - a small amount (used to brush on fondant pieces to help them stick)

Instructions

  1. Prepare and stack cake layers: Bake chocolate cake layers and fill them with Swiss buttercream. Stack the layers and chill the cake.
  2. Sculpt the cake: Sculpt the chilled cake to match the Heely shoe template.
  3. Crumb coat the cake: Apply a crumb coat of Swiss buttercream over the entire cake and chill again.
  4. Cover cake with fondant: Roll out fondant and cover the cake, trimming off the excess fondant.
  5. Add stitch details: Use white food coloring and a tool to trace stitch impressions on the fondant.
  6. Make shoe decorations: Create shoelaces and eyelets from fondant; cover shoelaces with Airheads candy and cut in half.
  7. Attach shoe strips and decorations: Cut thick and thin fondant strips for shoe edging. Brush water on cake and attach strips, eyelets, and shoelaces.
  8. Add logos and final details: Pipe icing for logos on heel and top of shoe, and add 'Heelys' text on the side.
