Prepare fruits: Chop all the fruits except banana and apple initially. Peel and remove seeds from orange. Chop banana and apple just before mixing with custard.
Boil milk: Boil 3 cups of milk in a pan over medium heat. Use boiled milk with skimmed cream for best results.
Prepare custard paste: In a separate bowl, mix 2 teaspoons of vanilla custard powder with a little water or milk to form a smooth paste without lumps.
Add custard to milk: Once milk starts boiling, stir well and add the custard paste gradually, little by little, stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
Cook custard: Cook the custard mixture on medium heat for 2-3 minutes until it thickens. Stir constantly to prevent sticking.
Add sugar: Add 1/2 cup sugar or to taste, and mix well. Continue cooking for another minute.
Check consistency: Check if custard is cooked by drawing a line with a spoon on the back; if the line stays clear, custard is ready. Turn off heat.
Cool custard: Let custard cool at room temperature for 30 minutes, then refrigerate for 1.5 to 2 hours until chilled.
Mix fruits with custard: Chop banana and apple, then mix all prepared fruits into the chilled custard. The custard will become slightly thinner due to fruit moisture.
Serve: Serve the fruit custard chilled as a refreshing summer dessert.
