This is a quick and easy method to extend the shelf life of your cocktail cherries by briefly heating and storing in a fortified syrup. The syrup will be close to 20% ABV and, once the cherries are finished, will make a delicious cherry liqueur. I like this method as the cherries still taste like fresh cherries... not candied cherries. If you want to get a longer shelf life from your cherries then you can use one of the two methods listed below.
