Ingredients

  1. filo pastry - watch the video to see (use even broken or old filo pastry from the freezer)
  2. ghee - 1 cup (for spreading on filo pastry)
  3. milk - 4 cups (cold milk for crème caramel preparation)
  4. crème caramel powder - 2 packets (two packets)
  5. caramel sauce - 2 packets (two packets, for decoration)
  6. honey - 2-3 small spoons (to add sweetness over filo base)
  7. nuts - watch the video to see (for decoration, any kind available)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filo Pastry Base: Roll up the filo pastry even if broken or old. Ruffle it and arrange it well in a tray.
  2. Add Ghee and Bake: Spread 1 cup of ghee evenly over the filo pastry. Bake in a very hot oven at 200°C until toasted and crunchy.
  3. Make the Crème Caramel: Mix two packets of crème caramel powder with 4 cups of cold milk. Heat the mixture on the stove until ready, stirring well. This recipe does not use eggs.
  4. Assemble the Dessert: Break some toasted filo pastry and place a layer at the bottom of a casserole. Drizzle 2-3 small spoons of honey over it. Pour the prepared crème caramel over the base.
  5. Add Crunch and Decoration: Sprinkle more crunchy filo pastry pieces on top, add the caramel sauce from the packets, and decorate with nuts.
  6. Chill and Serve: Refrigerate the dessert for about two hours before serving to allow it to set and flavors to meld.
